Emma Roberts might be Hollywood royalty, but she’s got Bravo dreams. The American Horror Story star just revealed she’s trying to recruit someone very close to her for reality TV’s most chaotic franchise: her mom.
In a chat with E! News, Emma confessed she’s a Real Housewives superfan, and she’s desperate for her mom, Kelly Cunningham, to join the cast. But there’s one problem: Mom’s not sold on the idea.
“I want my mom to be on Housewives, but she said she doesn’t have the personality for it,” Emma shared.
“I said, ‘That’s exactly what makes you have the personality for it!’ She just says it like it is.”
Honestly, that sounds like Housewives gold.
Turns out, Emma’s not the only one who sees the potential. She revealed Kelly has been approached “in passing” before, but it doesn’t sound like she’s easy to convince. “She’s a hard get,” Emma laughed.
Would Emma herself ever join The Real Housewives? The idea isn’t off the table, but don’t expect to see her flipping tables or throwing wine anytime soon.
“I’m not married. I’m on my way, but I’m not a housewife yet,” she joked.
“Maybe when I’m a little bit more mature.”
In the meantime, she’s happy watching from the sidelines. And like any true Bravo fan, she has strong opinions. “I need more episodes!” she said, especially of Beverly Hills and Salt Lake City.
Emma’s family life hasn’t always been all reality-TV fun and glamour. Her father, actor Eric Roberts, recently opened up about losing custody of Emma during his battle with drug addiction in the 1990s, a time he now describes as the “toughest” in his life.
Speaking on the Inside of You podcast, Eric shared the emotional toll of missing out on watching his daughter grow up.
“There’s not a pain, there’s a sadness… misunderstandings we’ll all have forever. Because we’re human.”
He got especially candid when talking about how becoming a grandfather helped him reflect on what he missed with Emma. His granddaughter, he said, reminds him exactly of his daughter, and it hit hard.
“She took a liking to me in a very strong way,” Eric said. “She looks like Emma… reminds me of what I didn’t have.”
Don’t count on it, yet. But if Emma keeps pushing, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Kelly Cunningham stirring up drama in the Real Housewives universe one day.
And let’s be real, if Bravo wants a ratings boost, casting Emma’s no-nonsense mom (with Eric Roberts cameos?) might just be the next big thing.
