Soulja Boy has just been handed one of the most damning legal verdicts in his career, and it comes with a $4 million price tag.
The rapper, best known for his 2007 breakout hit “Crank That”, was found liable in a civil trial on multiple disturbing counts, including sexual battery, assault, gender violence, and intentional infliction of emotional distress, against his former assistant, who has chosen to remain anonymous.
The jury’s decision, reached after two days of deliberation, awarded the woman more than $4 million in damages, $760,000 for assault, $1.5 million for sexual battery, and additional punitive damages yet to be finalized.
But what truly shook the courtroom was the nature of the accusations, and the chilling details that emerged throughout the four-week trial.
According to the woman’s legal team, she worked for Soulja Boy, real name DeAndre Cortez Way, between 2019 and 2020. During that time, she not only lived in his home but endured what her attorney Ronald Zambrano described as a reign of terror: repeated rapes, beatings, verbal abuse, and threats involving firearms.
“He raped her, he punched her, he kicked her, he cut her. He choked her. He pointed a Draco gun at her. He told her no one would love her,” Zambrano told the court. “She feared for her life.”
Even more haunting was her testimony that Soulja Boy threatened her family, telling her he knew where her mother lived and could “send shooters” if she stepped out of line.
Despite the disturbing allegations, Soulja Boy denied everything. His legal team tried to flip the script, claiming that he was the victim of a manipulative ex-girlfriend out for money.
“She’s jealous. She’s bitter. And she wants to get paid,” defense attorney Rickey Ivie told the jury. “This case isn’t about truth, it’s about financial gain.”
But the jury didn’t buy it.
As verdicts were read aloud, Soulja Boy initially smirked, until the numbers started piling up. His grin reportedly faded when the $1.5 million figure for sexual battery was announced, and by the time punitive damages were confirmed, that grin had disappeared completely.
The woman, who filed the lawsuit in 2021, claims she never consented to a romantic relationship and did tasks like cooking, cleaning, and managing appointments strictly in her role as an employee. Soulja Boy maintains their relationship was personal and mutually consensual.
But the jury’s decision, particularly the award for workplace harassment and emotional distress, clearly sided with her version of events.
This verdict isn’t just a major blow to Soulja Boy’s public image, it’s a signal that celebrity status won’t protect anyone from serious consequences in the courtroom.
With additional damages still to be announced, the total payout could rise even higher.
Soulja Boy has not yet issued a public statement following the decision.
