Believe it or not, Fyre Festival 2 is officially happening.
Eight years after the disastrous first event became a global punchline, festival founder Billy McFarland is ready for a comeback. And this time, he’s promising to get it right.
Here’s everything you need to know about Fyre Festival 2, including dates, location, ticket prices, and what to expect from the revamped music festival.
When Is Fyre Festival 2?
Mark your calendars: Fyre Festival 2 is set to take place from May 30 to June 2, 2025. Originally scheduled for April, the event was pushed back a month to give organizers more time to finalize logistics.
Where Is Fyre Festival 2 Being Held?
This time around, the festival won’t be on the infamous Great Exuma island in the Bahamas. Instead, attendees will head to Isla Mujeres, a picturesque island off the coast of Cancun, Mexico. Unlike the chaotic setup of the first festival, Fyre Festival 2 will use existing infrastructure for accommodations, dining, and restrooms.
An unnamed production company is managing the entire event, from logistics to production, ensuring that everything runs smoothly. McFarland promises that this team will handle “everything from soup to nuts,” while he focuses on bringing his vision to life.
What to Expect at Fyre Festival 2
While no artists have been officially announced yet, McFarland hinted that the lineup will include acts from electronic, hip-hop, pop, and rock genres. But the festival isn’t just about music, expect a mix of unique experiences, from skateboarding demos to MMA training sessions with professional fighters.
“We might have a professional skateboarder do a demonstration. We might have an MMA champion teach you techniques in the morning,” McFarland shared.
As for big-name headliners, McFarland is optimistic: “I really hope so, and I expect so from our conversations.”
How to Get Tickets for Fyre Festival 2
Tickets for Fyre Festival 2 go on sale starting February 24, 2025, with prices ranging from $1,400 to a staggering $1.1 million. Here’s what you get at different price points:
- General Admission ($1,400 and up): Basic access to the festival grounds and performances.
- Premium Packages: Higher-priced packages include upgraded accommodations, exclusive access to artist meet-and-greets, and premium seating.
- Million-Dollar Experience: For those willing to drop $1.1 million, the festival offers a luxury yacht experience with private accommodations, exclusive access to artists, scuba diving with McFarland himself, and island-hopping on private planes.
Only 2,000 tickets are available, and McFarland claims that early demand has been high. He previously sold 100 tickets at $500 each before the official launch and expects the event to sell out quickly.
Tickets can be purchased on the festival’s official website.
What Went Wrong With the First Fyre Festival?
The original Fyre Festival in 2017 was marketed as a luxury music experience but quickly turned into a disaster. Attendees, some of whom paid up to $250,000, arrived to find half-built tents, cold cheese sandwiches, and no live performances. The event was canceled on its first day, leaving hundreds of people stranded.
In 2018, McFarland pleaded guilty to wire fraud and other charges related to the festival. He was sentenced to six years in prison and ordered to pay $26 million in restitution. After serving more than four years, he was released in 2022 for good behavior.
Will Fyre Festival 2 Be Different?
McFarland acknowledges that the first festival’s failure is a “risk” hanging over the second event. But he believes that with a professional production team and better planning, Fyre Festival 2 can deliver on its promises.
“Since 2016, Fyre has been the most talked-about music festival in the world,” McFarland said. “Obviously, a lot of that has been negative, but if it’s done well, I think Fyre has a chance to be this annual festival that really takes over the industry.”
McFarland also plans to use part of the festival’s profits to repay his restitution debt. At least $500,000 from ticket sales will go toward his outstanding payments, and 10% of the festival’s total profits will be dedicated to the cause.
With a new location, a professional production team, and promises of big-name artists, Fyre Festival 2 aims to rewrite history. Whether it will succeed or become another cautionary tale remains to be seen. But one thing’s for sure, people are watching.
If you’re ready to take the risk, mark your calendar for February 24, 2025, when tickets go on sale. Just make sure you pack more than a cheese sandwich.
