Actress Meagan Good is opening up about her recent marriage to Jonathan Majors, calling the union one of unwavering love, commitment, and purpose, despite the public scrutiny surrounding the actor’s legal troubles.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the 43-year-old actress described the bond she shares with Majors as something deeper than romance. “I already felt like I had my person,” she said. “It’s me and him against the world.”
The couple tied the knot earlier this year, and Good emphasized that while they already had a strong emotional connection, being officially married deepened their sense of partnership. “There’s just something really beautiful about it,” she shared. “The commitment is different, it’s lifelong. No matter what, I’m riding with you until the wheels fall off.”
Majors, 35, is currently navigating a career crossroads after facing legal issues that led to the loss of several acting roles and endorsements. In December 2023, he was found guilty on two misdemeanor charges of assault and harassment against a former girlfriend. While the verdict sparked headlines, Meagan Good has remained steadfast in her support.
Her public commitment has drawn both praise and criticism, but she’s clear about what marriage means to her: “It’s also a commitment to being our best selves.”
Good acknowledged that building a life with someone who comes from a different background can present challenges. “When you choose someone who has grown up in a different place… you might be very similar, but you also might be very different,” she said. “The choice to love that person in all seasons… that’s unconditional love. That’s learning how to love the way God loves us.”
This isn’t Good’s first high-profile relationship. She was previously married to pastor and author DeVon Franklin from 2012 to 2022. The pair were widely seen as a power couple in Hollywood, often speaking openly about faith, celibacy before marriage, and navigating fame as a Christian couple. Their divorce marked a significant chapter in Good’s personal life, which she says prepared her for where she is now.
Jonathan Majors, who shares an 11-year-old daughter from a prior relationship, is also navigating what it means to rebuild and move forward. Though his reputation has taken a hit, he’s reportedly working behind the scenes to make a return to Hollywood, on his own terms.
Throughout her interview, Good emphasized that love doesn’t mean ignoring problems. Instead, she views marriage as a reflection of divine love and resilience. “Beyond the challenges, what this teaches you is how loved you are, what you deserve, and how much God loves you.”
She was also quick to clarify her boundaries: “That doesn’t mean I’ll deal with something crazy. But it does mean I believe in commitment when it’s rooted in growth and purpose.”
