Bloodborne Producer Launches New Studio Focused on VR & Console Epics

Teruyuki Toriyama, the former producer of Bloodborne, is back in the game – but this time, he’s doing it on his own terms. Toriyama, along with his old colleagues Tomohiro Suzuki and Hideki Irie, has formed a new game development company, Sirius Studio. The studio aims to bring AAA and mid-sized games to life, with a strong focus on VR and consoles.

Sirius Studio promises to prioritize creator independence, allowing developers to make the games they want without the pressures of big corporate influence. The studio, a subsidiary of Gz Group, is determined to craft titles that will not only captivate gamers but leave them with that heart-pounding excitement that great games are known for. Irie, speaking to Famitsu, shared his thoughts on the new venture, stating, “It is said that 80 percent of the VR market is in English-speaking countries, and many of the titles our staff, including Toriyama, have worked on have been worldwide hits. So, I think it is not an impossible goal.”

The Sirius team has a strong background in high-end games, having previously worked together at Thirdverse, but things started to change when Thirdverse shifted its focus to casual games. Irie explains, “We were part of a team that produced high-end games at the Japan studio of a company called Thirdverse. However, Thirdverse decided to shift its business to the production of casual games. Since we were a team that came together to produce high-end games, we wanted to make high-end games in the future, so we consulted directly with the chairman of Thirdverse and decided to make an amicable transfer.”

With Sirius Studio, the team is ready to take on the challenges of developing for both VR and traditional consoles. They plan to focus on the entire lifecycle of game creation, including planning, development, and sales of digital games for consoles, PCs, and even VR and AR titles.

The studio’s goal is simple: make games that shine – both in terms of quality and emotional impact. If the past success of Toriyama and his team is any indication, it’s safe to say that they’re poised to bring something special to the gaming world.

Sirius Studio is ready to make waves in the gaming world, and we can’t wait to see what they have in store.
