Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick are finally showing signs of being on good terms again – at least in front of the cameras.
The two stars of Another Simple Favor, the upcoming sequel to their 2018 film A Simple Favor, posed together for photos at a London promotional event on Tuesday after dodging each other at SXSW just weeks earlier.
The event, held at the luxurious Corinthia London hotel, brought out both actresses in full glam mode. Kendrick, 39, wore a bold red vest-and-skirt combo paired with sparkling gold heels, styling her hair in voluminous waves. Lively, 37, went the opposite route with a chic black-and-gold cardigan, matching skirt, tights, and knee-high boots. Her hair was loosely waved and accessorized with a preppy flair.
Despite rumors of tension, the two smiled for the cameras and even shared a seemingly friendly chat while posing in front of the iconic London Eye. They were later joined by other cast and crew members for group shots, keeping things light and professional throughout.
This new outing is a stark contrast to how things went down at SXSW in March, when they premiered the sequel to A Simple Favor in Austin. At the time, fans noticed that Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick avoided solo photos together and sat apart during the screening.
When asked on the SXSW red carpet about reuniting with Lively for the sequel, Kendrick gave an awkward “Oh, you know…” and quickly walked off, which fueled speculation of behind-the-scenes tension. On the flip side, Lively appeared all smiles and excitement, calling the reunion “the best” and saying she was “so happy” about working together again.
To make things more dramatic, many fans think the tension may not be about Another Simple Favor at all. Blake Lively is currently entangled in a very public legal battle with her It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni. Since Anna Kendrick has previously worked closely with Baldoni and has shown support for his mental health advocacy work, some speculate that she might be siding with him.
While no one has confirmed a rift, fans online have not held back their theories. Some believe the cold vibes at SXSW were more than just awkward scheduling or miscommunication. Still, this latest joint appearance suggests the actresses are trying to keep things civil – at least for the sake of the film.
With Another Simple Favor getting closer to its release, the PR train is rolling, and both stars seem committed to promoting it professionally.
