Is Hulu Down? Thousands Report Streaming Issues Across the U.S.

Streaming giant Hulu is experiencing a major service disruption and could be down, with thousands of users across the U.S. reporting problems accessing content on the platform.

According to outage tracker Down Detector, reports began spiking early Tuesday morning, April 8, and have continued to surge throughout the day.

Roughly 46% of complaints on Down Detector have cited server connection issues, while 33% involve problems with video playback. Another 23% of users are facing app-related glitches, making it difficult to stream shows or log in at all.

Hulu acknowledged the outage in a message posted to its support page and official social media handles. “Having issues logging in? If so – we’re on it! Our team has identified the issue, and we hope to have things back up and running soon,” the company posted Tuesday morning.

While Hulu hasn’t specified the cause of the outage, this isn’t the first time the platform has encountered widespread technical issues. However, the volume and distribution of complaints suggest this outage is more severe than most. The company has not yet provided a timeline for when full functionality will be restored.

Social media platforms, especially X (formerly Twitter), have been flooded with complaints and memes from frustrated subscribers.

For now, Hulu subscribers may need to turn to alternate platforms for their streaming fix. While the support team works on a fix, some users report sporadic access through smart TVs, while others are still completely locked out on mobile devices and browsers.

If you’re experiencing issues, experts recommend not deleting or reinstalling the app just yet, as this may complicate troubleshooting once the service is restored. Instead, monitor Hulu’s official support page and social media for real-time updates.

This is a developing story and we will update as Hulu provides more information or service resumes.

Stay tuned for the latest on Hulu outages and streaming service news.
