Florence Pugh is keeping it honest. In her latest interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK, the Thunderbolts star admitted she’s fully aware she’s not the easiest person to date, and she’s working on it.
“I’m tricky – I’m always busy, I can never make dates,” she said. “But it’s not good enough for me to ask someone to just accept that. I’ll just end up alone. I don’t want that – I want a family.”
She’s currently in a relationship, though she’s not naming names. But this new mindset seems rooted in some tough self-reflection. Florence revealed that her last breakup happened just before filming We Live in Time, and the movie’s themes around mortality made her reassess everything.
“It was a scary break-up,” she explained. “That movie forced me to realise I can’t wait for people any more. I can’t accept this version of love. I have to help myself.”
After years of back-to-back projects, Florence says she’s tired of missing real life. “I’ve now come to terms with things that I don’t like about myself and want to change,” she said. “I don’t want to have things just happen to me any more.”
The actress also got real about her recent journey freezing her eggs, a decision that came with more than just physical exhaustion. After the news leaked online, she faced a wave of negativity. “I know you shouldn’t read the comments but… urgh,” she said. “I wish there was a little more tenderness and understanding.”
Florence, who has endometriosis and PCOS, called the experience “tiring and horrible,” but said speaking about it is important, especially for other women who might feel alone navigating the process.
As for social media? She ditched Instagram for five months and described that time as “bliss.” She only returned to help share information during the LA wildfires, but she’s not relying on it to make real change.
“Instagram posts can only go so far,” she said. “At least I know that my energy is going somewhere.”
